After almost a month of having an expired domain name, I’m back :)
And I’m bringing a boat load of worries with me. For starters, when the heck am I going to be called for my visa interview. !*&@^ it. At the current rate, I’ve already missed my orientations, and am about to miss the first week of classes! Secondly, one of the subjects I wanted to take was already full, and I had to waitlist! Worst part is, it won’t be offered till next fall!!! Strangely, more people are getting onto the waitlist after me! Must be a really popular class.
On a lighter note, I wrote a little script to restart my Internet connection if it goes down. Which it seems to be doing a lot of. Worldcall’s customer service is as helpful as a soggy pile of wood. Getting a word through their “restart your computer” mumbo jumbo is just impossible. I’m running Linux for crying out loud, and no I can’t restart my computer every time your cables twist up! Anyway, so I’ve been testing the script (which I’ve aptly named ‘ifrestart’). And it seems to be doing a good job. Earlier, I would come home from work, and find that the computer was offline the whole time I was gone. It got to the point, it would disconnect, just as I stepped out. (My modem is alive I tell you!)
After much cursing and banging my fists, I realized that that was no use, (thats why neanderthals went extinct). And I wrote a shiny new script. This one taking a lot more time, effort and skill. Woohoo! I’m getting better :)
Whoa! Guess what? Worldcall disconnected me again :) Right while I was typing this post. Just beautiful.
I’ll be posting about the script soon. Right now, I’m gonna chill.

As much as I would have loved to work on the new v3 theme, there were simply too many things that I would have had to do. Having spent a whole week on just getting a theme for my blog, I could not afford to lose more time. Therefore, a compromise (sorry Jez). Although not a bad one.
Simple, devoid of images, dark, minimalistic, beautiful. Plus it only took about an hour to modify it. I’m sticking with this one. (Haven’t we heard that before?) If anybody needs the modified theme files, ask me. ( And I’ll ask Jez before hading them over of course).
I also discovered that its really hard to use a mouse with a faulty button. It double clicks instead of single clicking at its discretion. The results are sometimes funny, but most of the times they’re downright annoying.
Del.icio.us button still looks nice, no?
/me gloats

The site has a new look, thanks to about a week of hard work modifying an already great theme. I’ve mostly just cleaned up the original theme’s php files, added social bookmarking links and some new graphics. The pencil is thanks entirely to this tutorial. I didn’t even change the colors!

I’m making a little theme for wordpress and I’m testing it here. I need it to match what I’m doing to the main site. Here’s a shot of the wordpress theme (far from complete).

And here is the main site (also under construction), which I’ll be linking to the blog. This is the look I’m trying to match above.

Let me know what you think.

Yes I do. From now on. Here’s my public key.
If you don’t know much about gpg and protecting your privacy go here. Its a (relatively) small manual detailing how you can protect your documents and email from prying eyes. I don’t know about you, but the idea of someone else reading through my email gives me the creeps.
Also, in the news today. I have updated my main site. Its not linked on the main page yet. You can access it through here. Tell me how it looks, and if you think I need to change anything, just comment.
Its hardly a complete website. Still, a journey of a thousand steps …. yadda yadda.
